Job Title: Back-end API Developer (Contractor) - 6 months

You will be joining a new and growing digital team and as a Back-end API Developer and will be responsible for delivering high quality and secure API Services.

You will be expected to understand and follow best practices in Back-end API development and have experience with source code and security reviews. We are also looking for an enthusiasm for learning new skills and helping us to improve our working practices in an agile environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing new API to support our digital platforms and third-party integration.
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use adhering to best practice security policies and development standards.
  • Optimise application for speed, performance per instance and scalability.
  • Developing new ways of exposing the business brand via technology such Amazon Echo, Facebook Messenger Chatbots, etc.
  • Work in a small and highly focused development team that collaborate, share, learn and work within agile best practice processes.

What we’ll expect from you:

  • Highly proficient with Javascript, specifically Node.js and associated design patterns.
  • Experience working with SOAP.
  • Experience building a RESTful API, returning schematically correct responses with correct use of HTTP response codes.
  • An understanding of push notifications, mobile device registration, OAUTH, tokenisation of data.
  • Experience with Git Flow, JIRA desirable, CI desirable.
  • Understanding of javascript build systems such as gulp and grunt.
  • Experience with e2e testing, karma, jasmine, mocha, dredd.
  • Experience with API Blueprint, APIary (preferred) or swagger.
  • Selenium WebDriver experience in Node.js.
  • Experience working directly with either MongoDB, ideally you will know Mongoose well.
