Purpose of Role
The role would be responsible for identifying the needs of various areas of the business and proposing a plan to develop a BI solution. The solution should empower the business to be self-sufficient in the production of MIS and provide a graphical and intuitive interface.
To deliver BI solutions using some or all of the following:
Teradata / SQL Server / Oracle / SSRS / SSAS
Continually assess development in the business intelligence development arena and recommend new tools, versions and methodologies to ensure the delivery of high quality solutions.
Collaborate with the rest of the .Net team to establish a highly scalable and supportable environment to build the business applications in whilst constantly contributing to the development and improvement of team skills and knowledge.
Communication – Key Contacts and Relationships:

Present development updates to all project team members and stakeholders, this will require contact with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.

Regular formal and informal relationships with appropriate business dept’s.

Liaise with the .Net Support team and the I.S. Support team to arrange the transition of any solution to the live environment.

Communicate with various departments within Getronics to facilitate any changes required to the development or live environments.

Below is a list of activities for which the B.I. Specialist is responsible for performing within a given systems or business area.

Establish and implement a strategy for the company’s B.I. platform

Manage the delivery of quality M.I.S. into the business.

Work with the Data Warehouse, other I.T. teams and business partners to define requirements and design the solution.

Lead the development and unit testing of the solution.

Ensure that all technical and support documentation is completed to the required standard

Manage and keep up to date individual project documentation to include the following, if applicable:

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience:

Solid understanding of relational database design and data warehousing methodologies with experience of Teradata and/or SQL Server preferable

Proven track record in delivering a full end to end B.I. solution

Strong knowledge and experience of using Agile methodologies.

Experience with multi-dimensional data modelling.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
