Working with the Test Manager to shape the team and ensure process and governance is followed – the team is a mix of permanent staff and managed services.

Location: London, with travel to Colchester

Description: 

The Functional Test Team Lead will liaise with the technical team, Business Analysts and business representatives to define testing needs as well as champion the need for testing.

The person will need to document the testing approach agreed and run testing sessions with the various teams they will have key working relationships with Project Managers, Solution Designers, Developers in the delivery of projects and with other groups within ISS such as the Operational and Architecture teams.

They will possess an eagerness for change and continuous improvement and will also display strong communication and ownership. The ability to plan, manage and review activities efficiently will be essential.

They should understand the Full Development Lifecycle and the need for process and governance.

Key responsibilities:

The Functional Test Team Lead will need to be a strong communicator who is comfortable using their initiative to work independently, and to motivate the other team members. They will also have an in-depth knowledge of the various tools and techniques used for test management.

  • Planning and estimating number of testers needed for the project and the timescales for testing
  • Preparing and facilitating user workshops where needed, including UAT sessions
  • Reviewing and executing test scripts, leading the test project team, creating and sharing metrics, tracking team are on target, escalating where needed
  • Creating and maintaining test plans for multiple projects
  • Managing requirements including scope, traceability and change requests throughout a project.
  • Working closely across the ISS teams to clarify requirements and understand technical limitations

Technical: 

Strong testing background, including leading teams and using various test management tools.
Maintain a good understanding of key developments in the information technology industry.

Continue to develop strong knowledge around the systems, applications and infrastructure.

Exposure to / Testing of, a Citrix-based desktop environment

Strong analytical skills.

The ability to plan, manage and review activities efficiently will be essential.

Display an eagerness for change and continuous improvement and will display strong communication, ownership and team leadership skills.

Education/Qualification:

  • University Degree
  • ISTQB Certification
  • Practical Experience
  • Understanding of the techniques of system development and service management disciplines.
  • Understanding of the core concepts and key principles of system architectures
  • Office Skills
  • Microsoft Office
