Housing / Homelessness Officer
£15 to £17 per hour DOE
Temporary role - expected to last at least 2 months
We have a great opportunity for a homelessness officer!
The successful candidate will be required to carry out the council's duties under the current legislation relating to homelessness (at this time primarily the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002).
As a housing officer you will be required to maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant housing and homelessness law and carry out a thorough assessment of clients housing circumstances.
The successful candidate will be actively pursuing options for emergency accommodation therefore will be required to assist with the recruitment of private landlords for temporary accommodation or direct lettings.
Liaising with other agencies in order to prevent homelessness, for example, families, mortgage lenders, private landlords, solicitors, courts, social services and others will form a significant part of the role.
The successful candidate will have previous experience as a homelessness officer or would have worked in a similar role.
