Operations Manager - IT Security

The role of Operations Manager - IT Security will be a key position within the Group Technology, team in Swindon or Leeds.

A new operational management role has been created with accountability for the newly formed Hosting Security Services team within Hosting Operations Northern Europe. Responsibilities include the 24/7 – via on call rota – Security Operations Centre (SOC) and IT Security Health Check (ITSHC) management capabilities within Hosting Operations.


Main responsibilities will involve:

  • Line management of a team responsible for supporting a number of VCHS customer capabilities during core hours and via on-call rotas out of hours.
  • Proactive management of and response to escalations from customers, internal stakeholders (e.g. service management), and wider business units
  • Driving quality and capability from commercial partners who are pivotal to the success of the role
  • Responsible for lifecycle management of hosted solutions, including management of change volumes, definition of and task management of Service Improvement Plans (SIPs), business continuity/disaster recovery planning and testing
  • KPI analysis and reporting
  • As Operations Manager - IT Security your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • Experienced line manager of technical resources, preferably with experience of working in both Secure Government and Commercial environments
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting large, complex Hosting Estates
  • Good communicator with a talent for influencing key stakeholders
  • Able to develop robust peer to peer relationships
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Must have technical / professional qualifications:
  • Experience of managing security services, ideally with experience in a secure environment
  • Educated to degree level
  • ITIL V2/V3 qualification or strong awareness
  • Security Experience (Incident Response and/or ITSHC)
  • SC clearance (or ability to acquire)
  • 3 - 5 years experience 
  • Comfortable to run own meetings & report to senior people including clients 
  • Will be managing up to 9 people within the team, good people skills and effective time management
