Project Management Professionals - Air (C2)

£29,551 + benefits
Abbey Wood, Bristol

Unrivalled scale. Incredible scope. Rewarding complexity. At the Ministry of Defence, Programme and Project Managers provide world class support to a world class defence force. We’re significantly expanding the team at Abbey Wood. Join us to play your part in protecting Britain’s interests at home and overseas, while helping us strengthen international peace and stability.

Your role
These positions are based within Defence Equipment & Support, the specialist function responsible for equipping and supporting the UK’s Armed Forces.

It’s a setting unlike any other in UK procurement - not just because of the value and complexity of projects, but thanks to the kind of ‘kit’ we acquire. You could soon be working on cutting edge aeronautic technologies that are pushing the boundaries of current scientific development.

Our air-related projects include key high profile initiatives such as the procurement and support of all military aircraft including helicopters, fast jets, unmanned combat aircraft and large support aircraft. Example projects include the new Lightning fighter and upgrading the Apache helicopter. Whatever you work on, you can look forward to leading or supporting mission-critical projects. Close collaboration with industry partners and international counterparts will add another extra dimension to the role.

Your background
We’re looking for a wide range of professionals from a broad range of backgrounds – defence experience is not required for many roles, air related experience is valuable, but also not essential. To join us at C2 grade, you will definitely need some experience of managing and delivering successful projects in a complex environment.

A Project Management qualification is preferable, such as APMP/APM PQ/Prince 2 or equivalent – although we will support you to attain this if you do not hold it already. We’ll also expect you to bring strong problem solving and resource management skills, alongside an adaptable approach.

Your rewards
We offer an open, flexible and supportive working environment plus a good pension and benefits package. From in-house courses and sponsorship to gain formal qualifications, through to the sheer diversity of your role and projects, you’ll enjoy excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.
