Programme & Project Management Professionals

Grade C1: £36,562

Location:  Bristol

Unrivalled scale. Incredible scope. Rewarding complexity. At the Ministry of Defence, Programme and Project Managers provide world-class support to a world-class defence force.

Join us to play your part in protecting Britain’s interests at home and overseas, while helping us strengthen international peace and stability. Right now, we are significantly expanding the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) team at Abbey Wood. You will have the chance to focus on a wide range of projects within one of our three main theatres: land, sea and air – seeing major projects through the full life cycle.

This means you could be responsible for equipment and vehicles for the Army, Navy or Royal Air Force. From procuring fast jets and helicopters to managing the upkeep of tanks, ships or weapons, you will be instrumental in ensuring we are able to properly defend Britain’s interests at home and overseas. Whatever you work on, you can look forward to leading or supporting mission-critical projects. Close collaboration with industry partners and international counterparts will add an extra dimension to the role.

We are looking for candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to come on board. Experience within defence is not an essential requirement for many of these roles.

Evidence of your project management experience should be included in your application CV. Within the DE&S construct, those in programme and project management (PPM) roles will use and develop skill-sets and disciplines aligned to the Association of Project Managers (APM) of which the MOD holds corporate membership. All of those within the PPM function in DE&S are encouraged to follow the APM qualification route and whilst a project management qualification is desirable such as APMP/Prince 2 or equivalent, we will support you to attain this if you do not hold it already.
