Senior Project Manager - Banking Sector

Senior PM position for global Bank based in Central London 

  • Employing accurate estimating techniques, and to use product-based planning, risk management, and monitoring and control appropriately
  • Running projects adopting, and sometimes refining, the accepted best practices including Prince 2 and to ensure the project team do so too.
  • Monitoring, and reporting on, the overall profitability of the project
  • Escalating promptly any issues that may in future have an impact on client or the future relationship with the customer.

 

  • Conducting activities that lead to a customer purchasing project services, activities such as assisting pre-sales with producing bids, running project definition workshops (pdw) and participating in pre-sales presentations and meetings
  • Working closely with the Programme Manager on site to develop and enhance service offerings
  • Contributing fully to company and cross-function service development identifying new opportunities for growth or improvement
  • Acting as a mentor and role model to the rest of the onsite team, ensuring contract team members feel part of the team

To work effectively with their project team, their customer, their management, and the others stakeholders. This must include effective communication.

Knowledge and Key Skills

· Prince II Practitioner qualification
· Literate (able to write credible documents) and numerate (confident with calculating costs and margins)
· Experience of running a number of large or complex projects successfully
· Intimate knowledge of change management, risk management, setting up and initiating projects.
· Able to run Project Definition workshops
· Experience of writing proposals
· Able to judge correct balance between flexibility and single-mindedness.
· Able to get on with all levels of people
· Confident, a good influencer
· P&L experience to ensure profitability is maintained with the programme manager
· Skilled user of Microsoft Office applications including MS Project
· Willingness to work outside of London and from remote locations
· Deals with people diplomatically, is politically aware, and a good negotiator

Desirable

· Experience as an IT project manager or performed a similar role with another service provider
· A good appreciation of a wide range of technical areas especially around Networks, Security products [F5]
· A good knowledge of Barclays Change Management processes
· Experience of participating in and running with presales activities
· Delivery experience outside of Europe
· Managing Successful Programmes Foundation

· Experienced practitioner of project management, ensures project change and risk is managed effectively and that the project is planned and run effectively, so delivering the expected level of profit

· Building and enhancing effective relationships at senior management level
· Able to deliver projects and services to high level of quality, on time and within budget
