Description

Role Purpose: 

This purpose of this hands on, highly operational, client focused role is to scope, plan and manage the successful delivery of large and complex programmes of training to young students across the UK.

Working on behalf of one of our largest clients you will ultimately be responsible for ensuring that each programme achieves its objectives within agreed timescales and budget whilst ensuring that quality measures are continually adhered to
 

Duties & Key Responsibilites: 

  • Be ultimately responsible for the successful delivery of large complex training programmes in line with the Statement of Work, Plan and Budget.
  • Work closely with client Stakeholders and Solution Architect to understand the requirements and scope then create the Statement of Work to define the objectives, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, assumptions, risks and quality acceptance criteria ahead of final sign off
  • Develop, design and document all business processes required for each programme to agreed standards and methodology in conjunction with the Programme Coordinators.
  • Work closely with the Solutions Architect, Programme Coordinators, Resourcing Manager, Recruitment teams, and Learning Consultants to understand and define all tasks, activities and effort required to ensure successful delivery of each of the programme workstreams
  • Create, implement and manage the programme plans which will drive each workstream
  • Manage and track change ensuring all formal requests have been assessed, documented, and have the appropriate sign-off and budget to enable the change to take place
  • Manage and minimise delivery risks and issues, highlighting these to the customer to enable stakeholders’ expectations to be managed. Where required to ensure programme team members are effectively managing risks and issues within their own workstreams
  • Work closely with the Commercial Manager to track and manage costs within agreed parameters
  • Use the appropriate controls consistent with client Practice to deliver the training programme
  • Manage a complex network of client stakeholders, internal and external resources and external suppliers across programme workstreams
  • Host regular programme checkpoint meetings
  • Produce and distribute programme reports to the frequency as agreed during start up
  • Source, on-board and manage multiple 3rd party suppliers
  • Provide on-going direction, support and motivation of the programme team members to deliver continuity of quality
     

KPI's & SLA's: 

  • All programme deliverables achieved to agreed timescales and budget
  • Tight management of programme scope and change control
  • All risks mitigated against or minimised and agreement secured on all remediation plans
  • Programme budgets adhered to with no or minimal overspend unless explicitly agreed by clients or senior management
  • Resourcing gaps identified and plugged in a timely manner resulting in minimal impact to delivery of programmes
  • Quality Acceptance is achieved
  • Programme evaluation data meets with contractual KPI targets
  • Production of timely reporting as agreed by programme stakeholders 

Key Working Realtionships: 

Internally
• Reports directly into the Director as their line manager – weekly checkpoints, progress reports, escalation of risk
• Resourcing Manager/Scheduling Team – regular discussions and conference calls on planning and implementing resourcing requirements for programmes
• Solutions Architect - regular discussions and conference calls on delivery of the programme solutions
• Programme Co-ordinators – regular progress and planning meetings on all activities/tasks relating to the programme workstreams
• Commercial Manager – regular discussions to review, monitor and track budget and invoicing
• Learning Consultants - regular discussions and planning on course design, development and delivery
• HR, Courseware, Design team – regular interaction with other supporting areas of the business who will provide services which contribute to the successful delivery of the programme

Externally
• Customer – regular checkpoint meeting to plan and monitor progress
• 3rd party suppliers – equipment hire, venue hire, recruitment companies, delegate management
 

Skills & Abilities:

• Senior Project Management experience is essential due to the complexity of the programmes, the scale of the

role and the seniority of stakeholders you will engage with
• Demonstrable experience of creating and delivering effective programme plans
• Experience of the full training lifecycle including the design, development and delivery of large training programmes in a corporate or Government environment 
• Fully familiar with project lifecycle and methodologies and hold a Prince 2 Practitioner or similar industry recognised qualification
• Experience of complex scheduling 
• Experience of resource management 
• Experience of effectively managing or mitigating against risk
• Excellent document writing skills in a variety of styles, i.e. for SoW, project reports, marketing activities, newsletters 
• Proven ability of stakeholder management including building relationships and influencing senior people
• Have an excellent understanding of student welfare/pastoral care issues
