Troops see in the New Year with a smile

At Camp Tombstone, 1 SCOTS had to make do with Irn Bru instead of their usual Hogmanay fare but spirits were in no way dampened. They had a New Year's Eve full of music and games including one which resembled a Rugby Scrum but was in fact called "Bucket reeling"!

Meanwhile Commander Med, Colonel Stuart Campbell, entertained the troops at the hospital on Camp Bastion with a searing rendition of Auld Lang Syne on his bagpipes. Complete with silly hats, the New Years party was held in an empty ward and open to all staff and patients.

BFBS radio presenters Chris Pearson and Hal Stewart saw in the New Year in the Bastion One coffee shop. The radio pair held a disco for the troops, playing requests into the earliest hours of 2013
